In 1993 K2 revolutionized the skate industry by introducing the first-ever Softboot inline skates. This patented K2 technology provided skaters with the precision and accuracy of a hardshell boot, but in a new, comfortable and lighter weight Softboot design. The sport instantly became more enjoyable and easier because of this innovation, and it changed in line skating forever... Fifteen years later, this Softboot design is still the foundation of K2’s entire line. While K2 has continued to enhance the fit and function over the years, the basis of “Softboot” performance and comfort still rings true. Many companies have followed K2’s direction, and today, the original Softboot Technology still remains the design standard by which all other manufacturers measure themselves. Often imitated, but never duplicated, K2 is the Original Softboot that has and will continue to push the envelope of inline skate innovation.
