Buyer’s Guide:
How to Size / Measure for Inline Skating Wrist Guards

By IW | 2023

Did you know that wrists are the most common body part to injure on inline skates? It's also the easiest to avoid injuring, all you need to do is wear wrist guards! With the proper sizing and fit they can feel comfortable and save you from a very likely injury for skaters.

Most brands ask for measurement(s) around the hand and/or wrist. Although these are common, reference the product description on our website to learn of any product-specific measurement(s) and/or instruction(s). If your wrist guards do not fit properly, you risk them sliding out of position or even coming off when you need them most. You now know how to get the right size wrist guards. So wear them!

If not having a soft tape measure, use a shoestring (or similar) and wrap it around your hand. Then measure the string.

The ideal fit is one that is snug, without being uncomfortable. It should not cut into your skin or cut off circulation. Nothing should slide or move once all straps are secure.

Why Are Wrist Guards So Important?

Inline skating can be a great way to exercise and have fun. Unfortunately, it can also be a dangerous sport. The last thing you want is to end up with an injury that could have been easily prevented.

Although wrist guards may not protect from all injuries, they protect from the most common. First-time rollerbladers, skilled marathon skaters, and even aggressive trick skaters... All stick out their hands to brace for falls and there are countless things that make falling a probability each time we lace up. Many are not even within our control, so why take the chance?

Most wrist protection has a plastic piece (or splint) at the palm and/or on the inside of the wrist. This protects your hands from hitting the ground, absorbs impact, and slides without suffering a major injury. Having something that prevents abrasions, bruises, sprains, and even fractures, skaters can more confidently use their hands in times of crisis.
