Compression ArmorThese things are fantastic at giving a bountiful amount of protection with only the smallest of sacrifices in mobility. Even then, I would hazard that having the skating product make your knees naturally bend slightly as to not strain the material greatly, is a bonus. These were designed to fit on you at their best while you're in position, rather then standing upright and at your worst balance like standard store pads. The small amount of elastic material on the inside makes these pair well with pants and leggings, but are a touch grippy still on bare skin (A not so pleasant, but mostly ignorable sensation).
All of its features ensure that this piece will not slip off of your knee when you need it most, while the extra padding around the guard makes sure you won't escape obliterating your knee head on just to scrap the skin on the side of your knee against the pavement for 3 feet. Just make sure you get the right size!
They'd be better without the shellsThe shell popped off of 3 rivets on my first fall at the skatepark. They are pretty much unusable unless I take off both shells and use them as gaskets only
Ennui Ave knee padsWhile a little pricey, they fit nicely. True to the sizing guidance and seem to offer good protection. Have not fallen yet with them but feel bullet proof!
