The Cougar 7003 Aggressive Skates are designed for all skaters. The white 7003 was first shown at Winterclash 2025 and many have been waiting on it ever since. The wait is over!
Julien Cudot signed with Cougar and can be seen shredding the Cougar 7003 Skates. They benefity from a lot of testing and meticulous design, delivering on both style and performance. The Cougar 7003 Skates are crafted from a premium PU that is lightweight and impact-resistant. The flat-bottom design enhances agility and stability. It comes with a flat setup UFS frame with 60mm 88A SHR (super high rebound) wheels and ABEC9 bearings. The liners are made with high-density memory foam with elasticity and heat resistance to be breathable, durable and comfortable. A shock absorber in the heel area adds to comfort when landing those large gaps. Unique is the single-sided wheel-locking axle mechanism capable of adjusting the skates' center of gravity vertically. They have a nice wide toe box, metal cuff buckles, and lacing to provide the security, comfort, and confidence you need to pull off every trick.

These just aren't quite it for meI went into purchasing these with an open mind, hopeful a newer product on the scene could deliver. Unfortunately these have too many issues for me to recommend this particular model. I'm hopeful Cougar sees this honest feedback for improving future models and adjustments, because there definitely some positives. I believe this is one of their first aggressive models, so they could make some tweaks to the design to be a much better skate. For now, I can't recommend these over USD Sways or Them 901s (as well as many others I'm sure) at around the same price point or slightly less.
Pros:
1.) The stock liner is actually fairly comfortable and does mold well to your feet pretty quickly. They are a bit too soft for my liking, but that's more of a a personal preference. Overall they are medium-soft but not terrible for stock liners. Good shock absorption in the heel and boot overall also.
2.) The bottom boot design and soul plate shapes are actually decent. There's a good amount of room on the soul plate to lock on to grinds pretty easily. The soul plates themselves aren't particularly fast, but aren't slow either. Kind of in between and work just fine with a decent amount of wax. Aesthetically I do like the shape of the boot and soul plates overall.
3.) I like the larger H block plate in the frame. It feels like it gives you the room of an anti-rocker setup while still being in flat. I felt pretty at ease doing farvs, royales, backsides, front sides without running into much of any wheel bite since there's so much room there.
4.) Having a square shaped wheel bolt on one side of the frame for the wheels is actually pretty cool and convenient. It makes it easier to pop out the wheels by just being able to unscrew the one side.
Cons:
1.) The constant boot liner squeaking against the plastic is LOUD and obnoxious sounding. Even after spending 20+ hours breaking them in the squeaking does not go away at all. I would also try tightening the screws on the side of the boot to full and they would constantly come loose. Overall the boot cuff mold and screws are awful in my opinion. They need to be reworked to be more cohesive with the rest of the skate. I'd be curious to see if this were to happen with a higher end liner, but I wasn't about to spend more money to try.
2.) One of the stock bearings went completely bad after only 10+ hours of use. It completely killed one of my inner wheels from spinning. I open them up to find "ABEC 11" bearings inside. If you know, you know...
3.) While I enjoy the H block size, the frames/wheels feel high off the ground and less stable as a result. Maybe I'm just used to lower frames and wheels, but I have had other skates with 60s that still feel more compact and lower to the ground for stability.
4.) The plastic top on the boot liner around one of the shoelace holes started to bubble out and buckle/bend while using them. This tells me that the plastic shell around the shoelace holes are probably much thinner than they should be. While the plastic would unbuckle and got back down to normal after taking my feet out, this was really concerning to me and not something other skates have done.
5.) They felt heavier than other skates, noticeably so. While I had read this aspect before purchasing them, it definitely became really noticeable after swapping back to my USDs. While they also felt heavier, they didn't give that solid, thick "thud" sound after landing tricks that USDs have.
