The CCM 1.5 Goalie Knee Protectors provide solid knee protection and comfort for recreational to intermediate netminders and are a great, cost effective solution for goalies who are looking for a little extra knee padding. The 1.5 knee protectors offer ergonomic deep knee support and are secured with three elastic velcro straps.

SolidThe only real youth-sized knee protection options right now are the CCM 1.5 and the Bauer GSX. Both are solid products, but they really need to be used in conjunction with either the CCM or Bauer knee guard garter belt to work properly.
When set up correctly with a garter belt, the CCM guards stay in position and rotate properly with the leg, which prevents them from sliding out of place during play. In my experience, they maintain positioning better than the Bauer option which has no torsional capabilities.
My only minor complaint is that CCM could make the bottom Velcro strap slightly longer to allow for a little more adjustability. Other than that small detail, if you want a more “pro-style” setup for a youth goalie, these are the best option available right now.
