Bont Quadstar Carbon Athena Skates sit at the very peak of Bont's impressive lineup of roller derby skates. This variation features a 20-degree Athena Plate that is expertly crafted using extremely tight tolerances and is designed to have a low profile that improves response and edging. It's one of our most favorite plates for roller derby and it's available here with some other amazing components.
The first of those components is the Quadstar Carbon Boot and there's a lot to get excited about, from the genuine leather uppers to the suede-like microfiber liner. But the highlight has to be the carbon fiber base. This stiff material makes up the shell and outsole that supports the rest of the boot and is responsible for transferring all of that energy from your body into explosive action on the track. Unlike the plastic and leather outsoles that other manufacturer's use, carbon fiber is much more rigid and will immediately feel so much more powerful and responsive than competitor's boots.
That energy quickly finds its way down into the stunning Athena Plate that is mounted underneath. This elite plate is crafted from extruded 6061 aircraft aluminum, which means it's lightweight but incredibly strong and durable - safe enough for airplanes and just right for roller derby. It has steel kingpins that sit at 20-degrees, which is a sweet spot we absolutely love for modern derby. That kind of action is great for making tight turns but is stable enough to achieve high speeds without losing control. These plates also have some really cool additional features, like a variable adjustment nut and grub screw to adjust cushion tension, Delrin pivot cups, premium cushions, and a Toe Go Toe Stop.
