Article: Best Recreational Skates of 2019

K2 Kinetic 80 Skates

Comfort: 8/10

This version of the K2 SoftBoot may not be as padded as the higher end models but it still packs a lot of punch in the comfort department. It's breathable and adapts to many foot shapes.

Ease: 9/10

The cuff and boot are entry quality so while they may not have quite as much support, the small wheel size makes up for it. The lightweight boot and frame help with fatigue while you get your "skate legs."

Value: 10/10

They may not have bells and whistles, but they get the job done. With K2's 1 year warranty and quality production, these are a great entry option.

The Classic Hardboot

Rollerblade RB Cruiser Skates

Comfort: 7/10

While molded plastic boots have a reputation of being restricting, the wider fit of the RB models means that you can rock the classic style in comfort!

Ease: 9/10

The small wheel size makes it easy to manuver and the hard shell provides excellent support. These are going to be heavier than their soft boot counterparts so you may need some time to get used to the weight.

Value: 9/10

These skates are by far the most durable on the list, making them perfect for those looking for a long term investment.

High Performance Pick

Powerslide Swell Lite 100 Skates

Comfort: 10/10

The high quality liners on this skate out shine other recreational offerings. The skate features a blend of soft knit and a molded plastic heel to provide a blend of comfort, support and performance.

Ease: 7/10

The larger wheel size in the 3 wheel setup allows for faster speeds for more advanced recreational skaters but it does require a little more confidence on wheels than the 80mm options. High quality materials make the skate very responsive to help bridge the gap, making them best suited for skaters with a little experience or the very determined beginner.

Value: 7/10

With a pricetag over $200, these guys are definitely an inverstment. The production quality supports the price for those looking for performance but may be overkill for the casual rec skater.
