Overview

Powerslide XC Skeleton 150 Skates. Long frames to create long strides like cross-country skiing. Do not to expect the speed of urethane wheels, but expect an intense full-body workout that you can take on or off-road.  The 'skeleton' concept is not as rigid as a hardshell, but it lets you step in with your shoes of choice and feel secure. Ratchet buckles over the toe and forefoot help. Adjustable sizing easily by loosening rear bolt under the heel. This lets you share the fun with others.  Braking is done by simply sliding your foot forward and engaging the calf brake, letting you keep all wheels on the ground.

Trinity mount boots mean a winged mount under the ball of the foot. This increases stability and power at push-off.  Boots are compatible with any trinity mount frame from Powerslide.... BUT... the calf brake is riveted into the boot and would need to be removed if going to a small urethane configuration.  Skate with poles or hands-free (150mm air tires and Rustproof Bearings).

NOTE:
Inflate tires prior to skating (max 60psi). Due to stem location, air compressor or Powerslide Nordic Hand Pump works best.

Sizing Chart

GENERAL SKATE SIZING GUIDELINES
Measure both feet with socks similar to those in which you intend to skate. Then use the measurement of the longest point and reference the model-specific size chart to determine size. How to Measure Your Feet for Skates.
Proper fit has the toes not being cramped against the front. Toes may slightly brush the front as heels will settle back when in the skating position. Try on skates indoors while in a seated position. Lace and buckle both skates, tap your heels to the floor, and then stand and bend your knees to simulate the skating position. How to Try on Inline Skates for Fit.

Gravel for the win!I have used roller skis on paved roads before, but we moved onto a USFS graveled logging road in MT. These roller skis are a game-changer! The speed on gravel is similar to fresh snow. Just the smallest amount sluggish, but great training skis. The pneumo tires absorb plenty of chatter and have enough clearance for corduroy and pit holes. The gravel I have been skiing on is worn and the surface is pretty fine (1/2" minus), but it is a pretty common surface out here. These skis are flat-out fun, easy to control, and stable.

Very high quality productI have been rollerblading and skiing for years, so this seemed like a great idea for an intense full body workout for those who love to be outside and explore. It delivers on that beyond my expectations. After getting the bindings and foot plate positions comfortable (thanks to the many adjustments available from the great design), I was cruising on dirt and gravel trails in no time. Once you get your stride down, these things are unstoppable. Went for miles and just wanted to keep going. Super fun and versatile from pavement to hard pack, but they do not perform well if the trail has any sogginess from recent rainfall. I have recommended this product to all my adventure pals, and they were worth every penny! Was expecting a slower cruise from other reviews, but you can get going pretty quick on pavement if the wheels are 90 psi.

Suitable for rails to trails pathsI live in an area where there is a number of old railroad lines that have been converted into bicycle paths. These paths are not typically paved (I purchased these roller skis specifically to try and avoid pavement due to potential safety issues and more desire to be more in a quiet setting). The bike paths are packed with dirt with pebbles and small cobbles (small gravel). The roller skis do well on this surface, the motion feels very fluid and smooth, and the paths are more than wide enough. I also like that I can use an older pair of regular ski poles with quasi-sharp regular tips (but not the extra sharp tips for pavement) that did great. Down-hills are a bit slow, but that is ok for me.
