Comments: This brake has the looks (for your inner techie) and performance (amazing stopping power) to get the job done on your SUV skates. In terms of performance, I subjected the brake to the ultimate test - a very aggressive, paved downhill trail (>25% grade). Without the brake, I reached 37 mph simply coasting downhill on the 125mm Nordic, SUV rubber wheels. With the brake, I was able to maintain a steady 12mph on the same hill. Very impressive! The ability to easily dial-in the responsiveness of the brake using the large hexagonal adjustment screw is a major plus so much so that it had me wishing it was that easy to adjust all of my brakes. Industry-leading indeed. However, a few points to keep in mind. First, depending upon your boot and SUV frame, you may have to perform either some simple, or some challenging, engineering. In terms of frame, I learned from Powerslide (post-purchase) that several lots of both the Renegade and Outback frames were made out-of-spec in that a cross-bar used during the manufacturing process was NOT removed. As a result, the part of the brake that attaches directly to the frame will not attain proper fitment. However, instructions for rectifying this issue is readily obtainable from Powerslide and simply involves using a hacksaw to remove the bar. An easy process that will take 10 minutes at most. I can assure you this process will not affect the performance of your frame. In terms of boot, however, it's very important to ensure the movable part of your upper boot cuff is tall enough to accommodate the cuff-attachment part of the brake. This part requires a minimum of 1-3/4 cuff height. My boots (Powerslide HC EVO Pro) only had 1-1/2 and so I had to machine my own cuff-attachment part to ensure proper and safe fitment. Not everyone will be motivated to go through that process and so itâs very important for you to confirm your boot's cuff-height PRIOR to purchase. Lastly, because the brake works by applying pressure to your rear wheel, the stopping power of this brake is inversely proportional to the durometer of your wheel. The higher the durometer, the lower your stopping power and the more force you'll have to apply to stop compared to a lower durometer wheel. For example, the stopping power is very high for the Nordic rubber wheels. However, using a higher durometer wheel like the Roadrunner, will require more force (and space) to come to a stop. Enjoy!
