Overview
The Piper Carbon Air Inline Skate Wheels use a single piece Hollow-Tech carbon fiber hub. The core is 90mm so that 95% of the wheels' weight is in its 3mm tires (125mm). The hollow design carbon fiber cores have made the Carbon Air Wheels the lightest in their size while enhancing momentum, strength, and shock absorption.
Carbon fiber is between 2 and 5 times more ridged than aluminum. To further compare the carbon hubs with aluminum, aluminum has a strength of about 500 kilonewtons while carbon fiber can have up to 1600 kilonewtons of strength. The technology in these wheels continues onto the urethane with Duo-Tech which is inner band and outer band of urethane. The core, mantle, and tire are fused as one and they are trimmed, cleaned, and prepped for the final tire that lays over. Too much technical jargon? It all adds up to a very expensive (price is per wheel) and very good wheel.
