How To Fix LED Wheels

LED wheels all have two things in common, they light up (duh), and they have a magnetic spacer inside of them between the bearings! The spacer acts as a dynamo/generator that converts the mechanical energy between the wheel spinning and the pressure being put onto it by the inside of the wheel's hub and bearings. So there are no batteries or special secret alien technology, it's just magnets and the magic of skating of course!

Sometimes the wheels will require the bodyweight of the user above them to light up or they will just require the bearings to be pressed against the sides just right (not too tight or too loose).

If you lose the magnetic spacer, don't worry we have replacements that are quite inexpensive. They also come in handy if your spacer breaks or is not functioning properly. To test if a spacer is broken, try replacing it with a different spacer from a functioning wheel to see if it will light up. If it does then you need to replace the broken spacer.

Check to ensure bearings are correctly installed and resting flush against both sides of the magnetic spacer. Even a slightly misaligned bearing may allow the spacer to spin freely with the wheel, which doesn't generate the friction needed to power LEDs.

Check the tension on the axle nut. If it's too loose or too tight, it may inhibit the spacer's ability to generate friction (even if your wheel is spinning fine). Make micro-adjustments to the axle nut until you've achieved the desired spin and light-up effect.
