Happy but I think FR might be betterThese are my second pair of skates (my first pair were RollerBlade MacroBlade 80s) and I have been skating with them for over a year now. Overall I am pretty happy but there are some quirks that make me think I should have just gone with FR. The Good: Liners are comfortable and I never got any blisters. Wheels and Bearings are mid grade, just what I would expect for skates at this price level. They have been durable through numerous falls and they look great! Front and Rear Mounts are metal which is very nice considering the price. (I believe that FRX 80 has plastic mounts for the rear) The Bad: Over the year that I have had them, I purchased 2 other frames to use with these skates (FR R2R 243mm 4x80mm and RollerBlade 241mm 3x110mm). Both frames required major surgery on the boot mount (Dremmel tool grinding), otherwise wheels would rub when in rocker configuration. The skates use a weird M8 bolt to mount the frames which is only available from Flying Eagle at a price of $15 for 2 bolts. FR bolts are common and cost about $2 each. Other thoughts: I don't know if this is a common problem with other skates, but the ankle straps would not stay tight. I would ratchet them down to a tight but comfortable level, then they would make a fart sound and get loose. I was able to get the velcro straps on my MacroBlade 80's much tighter. I ended up removing the straps entirely and running my laces through the eyelets where the straps used to be and this allowed me to get a much tighter fit. Overall I am still happy with my F5Ds but I can't help but think that the above problems would not have happened if I had gone with FR skates.
