Comments: TLDR: perfect skate for me, even though I'm quite tall. Short frame is still perfectly stable (and actually preferred, now that I'm used to it), and fit accommodates my large wide feet just fine. I'm 6'5", 175 lbs. I love these skates. I was concerned that the shorter, more aggressive frame, along with the 110 wheels and my height was going to make me unstable, or prone to falling backwards (I switched to these from a pair of softboot Rollerblade brand 100s, which have a much longer frame), but my fears were unfounded. These are by far the best skates I've ever used, and I love the removable liner for easy cleaning. They're fast, smooth, comfortable, and responsive. I bought the size 13.5, and I have extremely wide feet. The fit at my toes is definitely tight, but I don't notice it while I'm skating, and I'm not sore from it after a session. If you have wide feet, think a tight but correctly-fitting ski boot. My foot slides back out no problem. It might just be the look with the white laces on black, but I absolutely feel like I'm wearing a pair of ice hockey skates. These have that level of agility to them, which I like quite a bit. My only (tiny) gripe is I can't smoosh the ratchet strap on the top quite as tight as I'd like, but since you have the option to lace all the way up, this isn't really an issue. I'm just used to ratchet straps that are a bit easier to tighten "all the way" but that's more force of habit than something affecting my skate experience, which I think it doesn't really affect at all. I'm able to get the skate plenty tight in spite of that. These are the first hardboot skate I've ever put on and not immediately felt the plastic shell digging into my ankle somewhere. In fact, I never feel the shell digging into anything during my sessions, which is amazing. Can't recommend these enough. I love also that the shell and liner are modualized, so that if something goes bad I can replace that part, potentially, without having to buy all new skates.

Comments: Boot: Looks great. Well built. Velcro power strap works well. Comfy liner. Cutting the plastic top strap to size (there are little scissor symbols with lines) to allow for a tight top strap is a little weird and onerous, but it works. I like running the laces up to the top. Some issues with the front of liner digging into my shin bone on the sides. Resolved with neoprene liners. That minor qualm aside, this boot/liner is nice. Frames: this is a SHORT frame for a EU47 (US 13) foot like mine. Doable, and SUPER easy to turn, but make sure you are aware of the frame length - FR puts the same frame length on the smallest FRX and the biggest FRX. The frames themselves are cast, not extruded and machined. The casting process left a large ridge on my frames where the frame clamps to the inner bearing ring. This led to any tightening of the axle (much looser than I would expect) causing the frame to warp where it hit the bearing and meant the wheels would not spin freely. Any axle tension (moderate) would actually bend the axle/frame bearing. After some frustrating troubleshooting and FR/ILW sending me the wrong replacement axles, I gave up and returned these. Lots of wasted time. At the end of the day you can't have a seam/step in a clamping face on a set of frames. My $80 bladerunners don't have this problem. What gives FR? Very disappointing about the frames on this budget model. I ended up just spr inging for FR1s and the whole axle/frame thing is a non issue. I can torque my axles normally and the frames are perfectly extruded/machined with no seams or casting lines. Furthermore, for the FR1's, there is an option for a longer wheelbase (248mm frame) thats MUCH more stable for my EU47 foot. I'm convinced it should just be standard for the larger foot sizes. Makes no sense a size 7 and a size 13 would have the same wheelbase IMO when there are longer frames available. Between the poor frames and receiving the wrong axles in a failed attempt to fix the wrong problem, the budget-minded FRX is a complete pass for me. Avoid the cast frames, and enjoy the other features of the higher end models which offer better flexibility, quality, and upgrade-ability. I hope FR can offer a better option for budget minded skaters.
