Wheel
Rotation
As you may know, inline wheels do not wear directly down to their centers. Rather, most people's skating styles tend to wear them on their inside edge. This creates a sharp ridge on the outside making a wheel virtually unusable long before it has worn too small.
How do you know when your wheels need to be rotated?
If at a glance you can see that your wheels are beginning to wear over to one side, it's probably time to grab a wrench and do a little preventative maintenance on your skates. Keeping up on the rotation of your wheels can extend months to the life of your wheels.
Procedure:
1
– Use a wrench to completely loosen the wheel screw,
while holding the axle with a second wrench. Notice
that on some skates the brake support wheel axle is longer than
the others.
2
– Remove the axles by pushing them out with a wrench.
For rockerable axles, remember the position of the frame spacers.
3
– Remove the wheels from the right skate and put
them on the left skate exactly as indicated on the diagram below.
4 – Insert the axles in their slots.
Make sure you use the long axle specific for the brake support.
5
– Use a wrench to tighten the wheel screws, while
holding the head of the axle on the opposite side with another wrench.
