Bearing
Replacement
Chances are your bearings aren't quite what they used to be. Especially if you skate outdoors by the beach or have ever been caught in the rain. Dirt builds up and sand seeps in. Moisture in any form will catch up with even the quickest of bearings. But not to fear, bearings are practically disposable, inexpensive and easy to replace.
Standard
Spacers
1
– Holding the wheel in one hand with a bearing popper
in the other, push the popper through the center of the wheel.
If you do not have a popper, one can be substitued with a pen or
no.2 pencil.

2
– Once you have the first bearing out, use the popper
again to push the second one out.
3
– Re-assemble with new bearings. Don't
forget to put the spacers back in.
Floating
Spacers
Some
skates (namely Salomon Brand) have what are called
floating bearing spacers and require a slightly different removal
procedure.
1
– Holding the wheel in one hand and the popper in
the other, slide the bearing popper into the center of the bearing.
If
you do not have a popper, one can be substitued with the shaft of
a screwdriver.
2
– Rock the bearing back and forth until it works
it's way out of the hub.
3
– Re-assemble with new bearings. Don't
forget to put the spacers back in.
