Overview

The Warrior Covert QRL Pro Hockey Gloves gives players amazing mobility and protection. The QRL Pro features the AxyFlex cuff, which attaches to the rest of the glove by a flexible mesh. With this design, players can easily maneuver their wrists and keep the protection in place to ensure the most mobile fit possible.

The exterior of the glove uses a high-grade nylon for flexible durability and beneath that is the Phantom foam technology. Phantom foam is constructed of layers of EPP foams that give excellent impact protection in the fingers, backhand, and cuff. Additionally, plastic inserts reinforce the protection in the backhand and fingers to hold up well against pucks and slashes. The QRL Pro glove also has Warrior's AxyFlex thumb that uses a 2-piece design for optimal flexibility and protection for the thumb.

The palm on the QRL Pro glove is Warrior's Smartpalm, which reinforces the Nash construction only in areas where it's needed. This maximizes stick feel and grip while ensuring that the glove will hold up in the known high wear areas. Inside the glove, we see WarTech FNC, which stands for Fresh n Clean. The well-ventilated liner keeps your hand cool and dry throughout gameplay, and prevents bacteria buildup when it's drying time.

Comments: Warrior is on to something with the "floating cuff" design, but this glove lacks the mobility it advertises. The problem is the wrist roll/pad, which doesn't move around the upper thumb pad. The upper thumb padding negates any movement the wrist roll is supposed to make. The "Axyflex" zone on the backhand serves almost no purpose, as I've found the wrist roll doesn't move at all when stickhandling. When moving my hand up towards my upper forearm, the wrist roll inhibits my movement and doesn't push down along the "Anyflex" zone due to being stuck on the thumb pad. The floating cuff works well and protects my lower wrist, but the wrist roll impedes full movement. Finger padding is too short as well. The tips of my fingers stretch the mesh beyond the padding, leaving my fingertips vulnerable. I love the segmentation of the backhand, which really makes it feel like a glove instead of gauntlets. Not a bad product, could use a wrist roll redesign and/or "Anyflex" on the thumb padding. I'll stick to my Bauer Vapors and wrist pads.

Comments: Great glove. It will be owned by everyone that tries it. 2-4 skates and it's already broken in. It has a weird fit to it; it's a "tapered" glove but feels like a contoured. However it'll loosen up a bit after break-in and you definitely get a tapered rotation/movement of the wrist. It's just the cuff that takes getting used to. 4.5/5. Wish the cuff and thumb were a bit more easy to move around. Also wish it was a bit more protective. I bought the PRO over the more expensive QRL cause I wanted more protection, but this still needs more plastic or padding in the sides.
